Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway Wins Gold at P3 Awards

DBi’s Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway Project was recently awarded Gold for “Best Operational Project” at the P3 Awards in Brooklyn, NY. Windsor’s Project Manager, Mike Priestyeski, and Canada’s Regional Manager, Leanne Brownlee, attended the event along with representatives from the Windsor Essex Mobility Group, ACS, Acciona, and Flour.

“This project sets a new standard for addressing the impact on the surrounding communities and incorporating innovative environmental features,” said one judge on awarding top scores to the entry. Another praised the incorporation of the advice and assistance of the Walpole Island First Nation (WIFN) in the project design as a significant factor in the success of the project. The submission was praised for not only avoiding numerous potential negatives but also incorporating multiple features that enhance the surrounding areas. One judge noted that, “the project team has successfully shown flexibility in making post completion improvements by continuing to work with stakeholders.” Another commented that, “other communities would benefit from using this project as a model for how to incorporate design innovation that serves both the original purposes of the project and its surrounding communities.”
