Although largely for aesthetic purposes, street and parking lot sweeping is also performed for practical functional purposes. Sweeping helps to insure proper drainage, as well as making inspection and maintenance of roads and parking lots easier. For example, sweeping provides a clean surface for activities such as line striping or crack sealing, and also aides in maintaining proper roadway traction.
